Welter -

confused mass: a confused or jumbled mass of something.

Example: The writer had a welter of crazy characters in her mind.

  1. I like the sentence you used to showcase the word :-) It should be mandatory for all writers to know the word welter, since it is a noun that all of us possess, one way or another.
