Whimsical Word of the Week

Callithump -

a noisy, boisterous band or parade.

Example: A callithump filled the city's main street following the championship victory by the town's baseball team.
Note: This word has a different meaning in British English, and has a variety of spellings.

  1. I've never been a big fan of parades, or callithumps, as I can now call them. I would say it was all the times I had to march in them but I didn't like them even before that.

    1. I know what you mean about parades, Sara. I had to participate in them with my middle school and high school band. (The uniforms were atrocious!)

    2. Oh, and to be specific: I played in the band from grades 7 - 10...only one year in high school. (Thank goodness. ^_^)
