Potpourri of Poetry
Summer Afternoon
Cool summer breezes lacing through the trees,
rushing, rippling waters heading out to sea.
Sitting in the shade watching an eagle in its flight,
hypnotized by grasses waving in the light.
The wispy shadows lengthen as the sun moves west,
soon it will be time to travel home to my rest.

The Rising Sun
The rising sun reminds us all,
that every day brings new possibilities.
And when tests and trials get in our way,
they're only the gateways to new realities.
So, remember still - the sun will rise,
on each new morn - a day of opportunities!

Wellspring
Hidden deep in the soul is a wellspring -
holding kindness, wholeness, and balance.
Would we only tap into this wellspring -
bringing forth acceptance, compassion, and tolerance. V.L.

The Flower in Us All
Though rocks and weeds abide as well-
the blossom grows where the seed once fell.
There is beauty in the lonely places-
among all colors, sizes, and faces.
May we open our eyes and heed God's call-
and then to see the flower in us all.

Metamorphosis
Musing about metamorphosis
brings fascination to my mind.
Complete metamorphosis is a miracle-
leaving egg, larva, and pupa all behind.
When will mankind embrace a change?
Yes it means pain, struggle, and humility;
but it also brings peace, joy, and love.
Would we not change to save humanity?

Share the Joy
To experience joy for one's self is wonderful;
to share the joy of one's child is amazing.
Watching them change, and grow, and succeed -
is to me the greatest wonder of the world!

Simplicity
The first flowers of Spring
emerge timid, but free -
They survey the earth
in their Simplicity.
Their short lived time
is no matter you see -
It's the beauty they bring
in their Simplicity!

Waiting for Spring
Rain, rain, rain... waiting for the season to change.
Waiting for sunshine, for flowers, for Spring.
The Earth is stubborn, not desiring to change.
The dark, gray, winter days are unrelenting.
Finally, a breakthrough; time for the clocks to change!
Soon we will see the sunshine, the flowers, the Spring.

Little Blue Jay
Little blue jay looks at me,
he picks at the grass.
Little blue jay looks at me,
he grabs a worm.
Little blue jay looks at me,
tugging, tugging-at last!
Little blue jay looks at me,
he flies away in joy.
